Cromwell Community College is located in the market town of Chatteris and has a population of some 9,000 (2001 Census). The Cromwell Community College is the only secondary school within Chatteris and serves the town and the villages of Benwick, Doddington, Wimblington and Manea as well as the outlying rural area.
The site has been used as a school since 1938 and was originally built for boys and girls as Cromwell School. The College itself consists of a group of single and two storey structures built over a 70 year period in different styles with generally red/ brown brickwork.
As part of the refurbishment and remodelling of the existing school buildings a new building was proposed to incorporate a new gymnasium, ICT suite and resistant materials workshops. These drawings and images show early concept design ideas for the new teaching block.
